SGL Carbon works with the UK National Composites Center
The UK National Composites Center (NCC) has established a new partnership with SGL Carbon to jointly develop future composite technologies for aerospace, transportation, oil and gas. Application area. One area of development is to improve the utilization of materials in primary and secondary structural components.
The National Composites Centre of the United Kingdom will use the carbon fiber-based, non-crimped fabric supplied by SGL Carbon to produce prototype parts and prototypes for new composite wings.
In order to achieve advanced processing of carbon fiber fabrics (such as non-crimped fabrics) at NCC’s research and technology facilities in Bristol, the two companies are currently developing development plans. Throughout this year, they will use the carbon fiber-based, non-crimped fabric supplied by SGL Carbon to produce prototype parts and prototypes for new composite wings. Developed for efficient processing of composite parts, the fabric is produced at SGL Carbon’s plant in Wackersdorf, Germany, using carbon fiber from SGL Carbon’s UK manufacturing facility in the Scottish Highlands. Ord’s Muir) and the plant in Moses Lake, USA.
