Lightning Strike: All-electric motorcycle

Lightning Motorcycle announced the official launch of the new Lightning Strike, an all-electric motorcycle designed to shock the motorcycle industry in every way by providing design, performance and technology.

Since Lightning was founded in 2009, a three-phase product development plan has been developed:

Develop the best technology in the world
Proving the superiority of technology through competition
Quickly reduce the cost of production technology and provide the highest quality products at the most affordable price.

With 10 years of unremitting efforts and innovation, Lightning has now implemented the third phase of its product development program with the launch of Strike.

Design aerodynamic efficiency

Strike is designed to incorporate elements such as track preparation performance, everyday ride and comfort, and aerodynamic efficiency to extend range at higher speeds. With dynamic sports motorcycle aesthetics, Strike shares clear design DNA with the LS-218 Halo Bike in a more compact package. Ergonomics focuses on the rider’s triangular geometry to position the seat, handlebars and pedals, making the strike feel like a natural extension of the rider.

By engraving the fairing and bodywork in conjunction with extensive wind tunnel testing, internal competition analysis shows that Strike is one of the most aerodynamically efficient electric motorcycles. Compared to other non-powered electric motorcycles, the Strike reduces aerodynamic drag by nearly 30% at 70 mph, improving the mileage of the highway.

performance

A key aspect of every Lightning product is performance, and Strike is no exception. Based on the architecture and innovation of the Lightning LS-218 superbike development, Strike is designed for the track and is designed for the street. Strike’s all-liquid-cooled AC induction motors produce 90 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque in the Strike Carbon Edition’s standard Strike and 120 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. The standard Strike has a top speed of 135 mph, while the Strike Carbon Edition has a top speed of 150 mph.

In order to control Strike’s tremendous power level and instantaneously available electric torque, the throttle response has been adjusted for very smooth and intuitive power transmission. Strike riders will have complete control in every riding environment – from setting the lap time of the track to the favorite back road to commuting and navigating complex urban environments.

Carbon Edition

Strike Carbon Edition is the ultimate version of Strike. As its name suggests, the Strike Carbon Edition uses a full carbon fiber body handcrafted by Lightning’s in-house carbon studio. The Strike Carbon Edition is also fully equipped with a 120 hp, 180 lb-ft torque motor, 20 kWh battery and 3-level DC fast charging standard.

In addition, Strike Carbon Edition is equipped with Lightning’s performance kits, including top industry components Öhlins front and rear suspension, Brembo Monoblock brakes and AIM Strada racing instruments with timers and GPS-based data logging. Strike Carbon Edition will also be the first version of Strike in production and delivered to customers.

Manufacturing

Lightning is able to bring all-electric motorcycles with Strike design, performance, technology and competitive pricing to market with Lightning’s multinational production and assembly facilities and a strong global supply chain partnership.

The development, design, engineering and final assembly of Lightning products are carried out at Lightning’s new global headquarters and production facility in San Jose, California.
