Century Tool expands capacity of large composite molds
Century Tool Corporation of the United States is a member of the Tooling Tech Group engaged in the development of composite tooling. Century Tool expands mold production capacity for large composites
The new machine is capable of producing workpieces 343 inches long, 100 inches wide and 120 inches high, making it easy to handle large stainless steel or aluminum alloy molds. At the same time, the company is also capable of manufacturing molds weighing more than 100,000 pounds.
The new machine was upgraded to one of the two existing FTP 4-axis machining centers available at the Century plant. The plant has 15 state-of-the-art equipment for drilling, milling, 3D roughing, semi-finishing and finishing of stainless steel and aluminium alloys. Century Tool is able to offer sheet molding compound (SMC), bulk molding compound (BMC), resin transfer molding (RTM), direct long fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite (D-LFT), dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) And compression molding molds required for molding processes such as carbon fiber composites (CFRP) and high performance materials.
