Shanghai Jinfei Carbon Fiber Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Shanghai Jinfei”) was founded in 2006. At the beginning of its establishment, it was mainly engaged in the development and manufacture of carbon fiber sports equipment. In 2008, affected by the financial crisis, the sports equipment business declined. The company began to gradually shift to the medical device, automobile and rail transportation industries. It has now formed three major carbon fiber products divisions, namely rail transit, medical equipment, automobiles and industrial equipment. There are also two major carbon fiber intermediate products divisions, including prepreg and fabric, focusing on the materials required for the above-mentioned three major product divisions.
In recent years, with the rapid development of China’s rail transit and medical device industry, Shanghai Jinfei’s rail transit and medical device business has also maintained sustained and rapid growth, becoming the engine of the company’s development. In particular, the rail transit business now accounts for nearly 50% of the company’s total business.
Mr. Luo Jianwei, deputy general manager of Shanghai Jinfei, said that the application of carbon fiber in the rail transit industry is very active based on the advantages of carbon fiber in weight reduction and structural optimization to reduce overall operating costs. On the one hand, the weight of rail vehicles is 80% to 90% of their own weight. The components made of carbon fiber can significantly reduce the weight of rail vehicles, which not only creates conditions for speed increase, but also helps to reduce energy consumption. The number of cars driven by the original two heads can even be doubled. At the same time, the weight reduction greatly facilitates the maintenance work; on the other hand, the carbon fiber material is used to optimize the design of the car body structure, expand the car capacity, and increase the attendance rate. (up to 50% increase). In summary, the final comprehensive operating costs will be significantly reduced. Therefore, since 2010, Shanghai Jinfei has started to develop business class seats and worked closely with customers in the rail transit industry to continuously explore and innovate with their design requirements, and gradually developed the body and front of carbon fiber composite materials. Many products such as equipment cabin, cab, panel and steering bracket have won the trust of customers and become the only supplier of carbon fiber composite parts in the domestic rail transit industry. In 2018, the company delivered the next-generation stereo head and is currently in the test phase. Luo Jianyi, deputy general manager, said that although most of the current rail transit components of carbon fiber composite materials are still in the road test stage, there is no real mass production, but with the rapid development of the rail transit industry and the development opportunities brought by the Belt and Road, mass production It is close at hand. More importantly, in the process of cooperation with customers, the company has accumulated a large amount of experimental data, which is an invaluable resource for further optimization of products and expansion of business in the future.
As far as the automotive business is concerned, Shanghai Jinfei participated in the early design of the future K50, and cooperated with Beijing Great Wall Huaguan Automotive Technology Co., Ltd. to develop a complete set of more than 30 carbon fiber components of the K50 and helped to develop the molding process. Small batch mass production of seven carbon fiber parts such as the back door assembly, the trunk lid outer panel, the left outer panel, the right outer panel, the left skirt body and the right panel body, so in the car He has accumulated a lot of practical experience in the development and production of carbon fiber components. He is the earliest in the country to reserve a variety of new carbon fiber molding technology routes (including prepreg molding, SMC molding and rapid RTM) and the earliest realization of mass production of automotive carbon fiber parts. Luo Jianyu, deputy general manager, admitted that various reasons have led to the slow progress of the domestic automotive industry’s application of carbon fiber composite materials. Due to various considerations such as the uncertainty of future process routes, the company has not invested heavily in related equipment. Nonetheless, the technology reserves for the automotive industry have never stopped: on the one hand, the company has designed and manufactured various laboratory-scale test equipment suitable for its own development, such as molding equipment and fast RTM equipment, and has various The test verification method has been carried out in cooperation with some domestic automakers to carry out various trial production studies and to provide various test data at any time. On the other hand, the company has the ability to independently design and develop carbon fiber intermediate products such as fabrics and prepregs. Customize the fabric or prepreg material required to meet specific application requirements to improve the quality of the final product at a relatively more reasonable cost. With a two-pronged technical reserve of process routes and carbon fiber intermediate products, Shanghai Jinfei has ensured that it can quickly respond to the needs of automotive OEMs and enter the mass production and supply status of automotive composite parts.
At present, Shanghai Jinfei has 94 technical patents, including 41 invention patents and 53 utility model patents. It has become one of the high-tech enterprises with great development potential in Shanghai.
